The Calvary Chapel Construction

The first time I came to the Calvary Chapel in Cottage Grove was in January when I was visiting my grandpa.  He had been mentioning that the church was about to close a deal for a new building and that everyone is getting excited about it.

My first impression of walking into the building was that it was dark and small, and that there were a lot of people shuffling around rows of chairs and were pressed up against the wall to have conversations without clogging up traffic.  I could see why there was a need of refurbishment or moving the church all together.

What I later found out was that there were several other glitches to this humble little church.  There wasn't enough parking, there have been

leakage issues, the classrooms seemed to not be in mediocre condition, and the ceiling was low, causing the entire sanctuary to become stuffy.

It took months of negotiation and patience to finally close a deal on a building that once was a laundromat and also a movie house.  The dozens of people from the congregation volunteered on the first construction day to take out the equipment left over from the laundromat and kick off the construction.  The initial plan and goal was to finish the church by Easter.  Unfortunately, they were not able to reach that goal, but the final touches of the building are being taken care of at last.  It's come to the final countdown of the grand opening of Cottage Grove's new Calvary Chapel.
